Privacy Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026
ShiftThru is a time clock, scheduling and team chat service run by Next Infra LLC ("ShiftThru", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. It covers shiftthru.com, the ShiftThru kiosk, the manager app and the staff app.
The short version. We use information only to run ShiftThru for your workplace. We do not sell personal information, and we never use it for advertising. Your phone number is never shared for marketing.
Who controls your information
Businesses ("employers") sign up for ShiftThru and add their employees. For employee information such as hours and schedules, your employer decides what is collected and how it is used, and we handle it on their behalf. For questions about your work records, ask your employer first. You can also contact us at any time.
What we collect
Account information
- Name, employee ID, department, job role and pay type, entered by your employer or by you.
- Email address and mobile number, if provided, used for signing in and for messages you ask for.
- Your PIN and password, stored in scrambled (hashed) form so no one can read them.
Work records
- Clock-in, clock-out and break times, and any changes to them, including who made each change and why.
- Schedules, shift notes, time-off requests and shift swaps.
- Messages and announcements sent in team chat.
Location
If your employer turns it on and you allow it on your phone, the staff app checks your location only at the moment you clock in or out, to confirm you are at work. We do not track your location at any other time.
Face scan (optional)
Some workplaces let employees clock in with face scan on the kiosk. It is used only if you give written consent, and you can always use your ID and PIN instead. Face scan turns the shape of your face into a code of numbers (a "face template"). We do not keep a photo. The template is encrypted, used only to confirm it's you at the time clock, never sold, and permanently destroyed when you leave the job, when you withdraw consent, or 3 years after you last used it, whichever comes first.
Technical information
Basic device and browser details, IP address, and error logs, used to keep the service secure and working.
How we use information
- To run ShiftThru: record time, build schedules, deliver messages and show reports to your employer.
- To sign you in and keep accounts secure, including sending sign-in codes.
- To send notifications you choose, such as schedule changes.
- To provide support, fix problems and improve the service.
- To meet legal obligations.
Text messages (SMS)
We send texts only to people who sign up for them in the app. These are sign-in codes and work alerts you turn on. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. More on our text messages page.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only:
- With your employer, who uses ShiftThru to manage their team.
- With service providers that help us run ShiftThru, under contracts that limit their use to providing their service to us: database hosting (Supabase), website hosting (Cloudflare), email delivery (Resend) and text message delivery (Twilio).
- When the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger. This policy would continue to apply.
How long we keep information
We keep work records for as long as your employer uses ShiftThru, and longer when the law requires employers to keep time and pay records. When an employer closes their account, we delete or anonymize their data within 90 days, except where we must keep it by law. Face templates follow the shorter limits above.
How we protect information
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and each workplace's data is kept separate. Access is limited to people who need it, and every change to a time record is logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected people as the law requires if a breach happens.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your information: ask your employer or email us.
- Stop texts: reply STOP, or turn off text alerts in Settings.
- Withdraw face scan consent: tell your manager. You will use your ID and PIN instead.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as asking for a copy or for deletion. Email us and we will respond as the law requires. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
ShiftThru is a workplace tool and is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For important changes, we will let employers know in the app before the change takes effect.
